InMotion Review 2021

Overview of InMotion Hosting

Speed: 837ms load times

Uptime: Over 99% uptime

Support: Phone, Live Chat, Email

Hosting Type: Shared, VPS, Dedicated, WordPress, Managed Hosting

Pricing: Plans starting at just $3.99 per month

Benefits and Features of InMotion Hosting

When you’re looking for web hosting, then you’re likely reviewing multiple hosting providers so that you can find the best web host for your website. One of the things that you’ll want to look for in any hosting provider is a lot of features that you can take advantage of for your website.

You always want the most from your hosting provider so that you can give your website the best chance for success. If your hosting provider has a lot of features, but they don’t benefit your site, then you may want to change your hosting provider.

We took an in-depth look at InMotion hosting, and then we compiled a list of features and benefits that you’ll get from using InMotion as your web host.

Good Server Uptimes

One of the things that we look for in any good hosting provider is the uptime that their hosting servers can provide. If a hosting server is continually crashing or requires maintenance, then your website will experience a lot of downtimes.

Your website is no good to you unless it’s live and accessible by your target audience. When your server isn’t able to have a high uptime, then your website won’t be available to your viewers, which could result in a loss of business and frustrated viewers.

We reviewed the uptime that you’ll find from InMotion Hosting, and we were happy with what we found. They have recorded uptimes of over 99% during the last two years, and they have an uptime guarantee, which shows that they are committed to maintaining these high uptimes in the future.

Fast Customer Service

When you’re purchasing web hosting, you never want to choose a company that provides poor customer service. If something were to happen to your website, then you’ll want to have any issues to be resolved in a short period.

Poor customer support is one of the most frustrating situations that you can be in when you’re dealing with a hosting provider. If your website is down, you’ll want a prompt, friendly, and knowledgable support staff to handle your support ticket.

We value customer service, and so we decided to put the InMotion support staff to the test.

We found that the InMotion support team was reasonably fast, and we had access to a support rep within a few minutes. We also found that their support team was accommodating, and they seemed to know what they were talking about, and they knew their products and services quite well.

Free Website Migration

If you’re currently working with a hosting provider that doesn’t meet your expectations and you would like to switch your hosting provider, then you’ll need a website migration to transfer your website to another web host.

When you’re working with some hosting providers, you could get charged as much as $150 for website migration. This isn’t the case with InMotion hosting because they offer website migrations to new customers at no extra costs.

If you’ve ever tried to migrate your website, then you’ll know that it’s a confusing task, which can lead to many mistakes. We would always recommend that you get professional help with migrations unless you know what you’re doing.

The free website migrations are a nice feature for InMotion to offer, and we wish that more hosting companies would provide free website migrations to their new customers.

Easy-To-Use Website Builder

If you’re looking to build a website, but you don’t know any code, then there are ways that you can create your website without hiring an expensive web design agency to take on your web design project.

One of the ways that you can make your website is through a website building software. A website builder is a platform that allows you to customize pre-built themes and style the themes to create your web pages. Website builders are easy to use, and you can usually build your website within a few hours.

When you work with InMotion Hosting, you’ll have access to their website builder, and you’ll be able to choose between 200 different website themes to start building your website.

This is ideal for anyone who needs a smaller website without needing to spend a lot of money.

Free Enhanced Security Features

One of the things that we love about InMotion Hosting is the fact that they care about security and making sure that every website is safe and secure from any malicious attacks or ill-intent.

They’ve taken steps to ensure that your audience is safe while they’re on your website by offering security features like Free SSL Certificates, Hack Protection Software, Custom Built Firewalls and DDoS Protection.

InMotion Hosting also runs malware scans on your website to prevent any attacks on your site before they happen. They also perform daily backups on your website so that you won’t lose your website if something horrible happens to your website.

We love that InMotion Hosting has taken steps to ensure that their customers are safe, while many hosting providers would charge for these essential features.

Scalable Hosting Plans

If you’re trying to grow a website, then you’ll want t find a hosting provider that offers scalable hosting plans so that you can have the most flexibility when it comes to upgrading or downgrading your hosting plans.

If your hosting plan isn’t scalable, then it may limit the growth of your website because you won’t be able to increase the data limits on your plan. This will mean that your website doesn’t have enough data to handle the traffic that your website is getting, and your audience may have a poor experience on your website as a result.

One of the reasons that we like InMotion hosting is because of their scalable hosting plans. You’ll be able to upgrade or downgrade your hosting plan with the click of a button.

This feature makes it easy for you to grow your website and ensuring that your website always has enough data to continue to grow.

90-Day Refund Policy

If you’re choosing a web host for your website, then you’ll want to take a look at their refund policy to ensure that you can get your money back if you’re not happy with the hosting services.

A good refund policy will also protect you from committing to a long term hosting contract without testing the hosting plans beforehand. With InMotion Hosting, you’ll be given a 90 day period where you’ll be able to request a refund for your hosting plan.

This is a nice feature because many hosting companies will only give you 30 days and the 90-day policy will provide you with more time to make your decision. Within those 90 days, you’ll be able to set up your website and test the hosting services to see if you’re pleased with InMotion Hosting.

Disadvantages of using InMotion Hosting

If you’re looking for a perfect hosting provider, then you’ll be quickly disappointed because you’ll find that the perfect web host doesn’t exist. Every hosting company has its own flaws, and it will be up to you to decide on the best hosting company for you and your website.

We took a hard look at what InMotion has to offer, and we found a few reasons disadvantages that you’ll experience if you’re using InMotion hosting as your hosting provider. Here’s what we found.

Below Average Load Times

You always want your website to be fast because a fast website is great for search engines and making your audience happy. However, if your web host is slow, then there’s only so much that you can do to speed up your website.

We reviewed over 30 different web hosts, and we found that the average load time was 700ms. When we tested the speed of InMotion Hosting, we discovered that they were slightly below average with a load time of 838ms.

This load time should be fine for a smaller website that gets under 10,000 viewers per month. While this time isn’t the worst that you’ll be able to find, it could cause issues if you have a large website with a lot of traffic.

Common Renewal Rate Scheme

If you’ve been around the hosting space for a while, then you’ll probably know about the renewal rates scheme. While this scheme isn’t a disadvantage, it’s something that you should be aware of before you purchase hosting.

When you purchase hosting, you’ll be given a reduced price per month as long as you buy a long term contract. This reduced fee will only apply to your first hosting contract of up to 24 months, and once your initial contract expires, you’ll need to renew your hosting contract at the regular prices.

Always look at the regular price of hosting because even though the initial contract price can be tempting, their regular price may be more than you’re willing to pay in the future. If you want to avoid a website migration, then you’ll want to make sure that you’re ‘ok’ with the regular hosting prices that you’ll have to pay when you renew.

InMotion Hosting Plans and Pricing

When you’re in the process of choosing a web host for your website, then you’ll want to take a look at the plans and pricing that the hosting provider can offer. You’ll want to look for hosting plans with features that you can use and at an affordable price.

You’ll also want to take a look at the various types of hosting that you’ll be able to purchase. You may need to upgrade your hosting plans in the future, and you’ll want to know that you can do so with ease.

InMotion has five different types of hosting:

  • Shared Hosting
  • VPS Hosting
  • Dedicated Hosting
  • WordPress Hosting

We will take a look at these hosting tiers and the pricing plans within each hosting tier so that you can make an educated decision on which hosting plans are the best for your website.

If you’re unsure about what type of hosting is best for your website, then you can always contact a customer rep at InMotion, and they will be happy to help you find the best plan for your website.

InMotion Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is one of the most common forms of web hosting because it’s really cheap, and many websites are small enough that they don’t require a larger hosting plan with more data.

The shared hosting plans will be perfect for you unless your website gets a lot of traffic every month. This is because you’re sharing a server, and many other sites are also using the same server resources.

This means that the other websites on your server can use up too much data and not leave enough for your website to use, which will result in slow load time for your audience. If you have traffic spikes from a lot of traffic, then a shared hosting plan may not be sufficient.

InMotion Hosting has three different shared hosting plans:

  • Launch Plan – Starting from $3.99 per month
  • Power Plan – From $5.99 per month
  • Pro Plan – Just $13.99 per month

These hosting plans are a great starting point for anyone who needs reliable hosting for their website. The InMotion plans come with a lot of extra add-ons and security features that you would have to pay for from other hosting providers.

If your website has under 50,000 viewers per month, then you’ll be able to benefit from using the shared hosting plans that InMotion has to offer. This isn’t bad when you consider that it’s all for the price of a few cups of coffee per month.

InMotion VPS Hosting

If you find that your website requires more hosting resources than the shared hosting plans can provide, then you may want to upgrade your hosting to a Virtual Private Server (VPS).

A Virtual Private Server is similar to shared hosting because you’re still sharing a server with other website owners, but you’ll also get a guaranteed amount of data per month, which is a feature that you won’t find with shared hosting plans.

This means that your website won’t be affected by the other sites on your server, and you’ll be able to use all of the data within your hosting plans without worrying about if there’s enough data to handle traffic spikes.

InMotion has three different VPS hosting plans:

  • VPS 1000 Plan – Just $24.99 per month
  • VPS 2000 Plan – Only $39.99 per month
  • VPS 3000 Plan – From $59.99 per month

One of the beautiful things about using a Virtual Private Server is the fact that you’ll be able to configure and customize the settings on your server, which will give your website the best chances for online success.

If your website is getting under 200,000 viewers per month, then you’ll likely be able to benefit from the InMotion VPS Hosting Plans. Always check your data plan to see if you’re exceeding your monthly plan limits because you may need to upgrade your hosting plan if this is the case so that you can provide a better viewing experience to your audience.

InMotion Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting is one of the most expensive forms of hosting you can buy. This is because the dedicated plans will have a large amount of data, and the servers are dedicated to hosting a single website.

A dedicated web host is helpful because you’ll have access to all of the hosting resources within that server and not need to worry about sharing data with another website. Still, you’ll also be the only one who is paying for the expenses, which can make it costly.

InMotion has 6 different dedicated hosting plans:

  • Essential Plan – From $105.69 per month
  • Advanced Plan – From $166.59 per month
  • Elite Plan – From $238.99 per month
  • CC-500 Plan – From $340.99 per month
  • CC 1000 Plan – From $414. 49 per month
  • CC-2000 Plan – From $519.49 per month

Again, you’ll have root access to your hosting server so that you can configure and customer the settings of your server to give your website the ultimate advantage over the other sites within your industry.

You’ll also have access to a free Control Panel (cPanel) so that you can easily manage and grow your website. Your dedicated server is also equipped with Solid State Drives (SSD), which will make your website up to 20x faster than HDD Storage.

Always check to make sure that you require a dedicated server to host your website or else you may be spending too much money on hosting while you could use a cheaper option.

InMotion WordPress Hosting

WordPress is, by far, one of the most popular platforms to help build and grow your website. This is because WordPress is simple, easy to use and allows you to use plugins to handle functions that would typically require coding.

It’s also reasonably cheap to build a WordPress website, and you can usually get a website built for under $500, which would include your theme, plugins and other security features. If you’re going to build a website with WordPress, then you’ll probably want to use a hosting plan that is optimized for a WordPress website.

InMotion has 6 different WordPress Hosting Plans:

  • WP-1000 – Starting at $6.99 per month
  • WP-2000 – Only $9.99 per month
  • WP-3000 – Just 12.99 per month
  • WP 4000 – From $19.99 per month
  • WP-VPS – From $29.19 per month
  • WP Dedicated – From $105.69 per month

When you used a WordPress hosting plan, you’ll find that your account comes with WordPress Pre-Installed so that you can get started on your website within minutes after purchasing hosting.

You’ll also have access to the InMotion Website Creator in case you don’t know how to build a website through WordPress. You can simply use the Drag-and-Drop website builder to create a professional-looking website.

You’ll also have access to hundreds of Premium WordPress themes and various plugins that you can install on your website to give yourself the best chance at growing.

Do We Recommend InMotion Hosting?

Yes, absolutely! We would recommend InMotion Hosting because they offer reliable support time and adequate loading speeds. While we would like them to be a bit faster, we believe that the majority of websites aren’t large enough to be affected by the slightly below average speeds.

We also love that InMotion has a lot to offer when it comes to customer support. We value customer support, and we think that the InMotion support team knows what they’re talking about and from our experiences, they’re easy to deal with.

InMotion also offers a lot of affordable hosting plans which are perfect for anyone who needs to host a website but doesn’t want to spend a lot of money to get a huge hosting plan.

We found that InMotion offers a lot of extra free features, which would become expensive if you used another hosting provider and had to pay for the same add-ons. They also take website security very seriously, which was a big plus in our books.
